Simpson Strong-Tie introduces the answer to fastening composite decking: the Composi-Lok Deck Screw.
When fastening composite decking, you want a screw that performs in almost any condition and looks great doing it.
The new Quik Drive Composi-Lok is up to the task, combining ease of installation and reliability with a finished look that will complement
any deck.
Quik Guard
Quik Guard is a proprietary double barrier coating that provides a level of corrosion protection suitable for many preservative-treated wood applications. Less than 10% of surface red rust at 950 hours of ASTM B117 salt spray test. See "
Minimum Coating or Material Recommendation" below for further information regarding deck applications using preservative-treated lumber.
- “Wings” on the shaft counterbore the hole, creating a channel for excess material and reducing upward pressure on the head of the screw. This prevents the screw from “spinning out” when fastening harder boards in cold or wet conditions.
- The cap style head captures any mushrooming material, keeping it out of sight and ensuring a clean-looking installation.
- The Quik Guard coating allows the screw to be used with certain preservative-treated wood substrates (See www.strongtie.com/info for recommendations regarding fastener choices in preservative treated lumber).
